The specifics of reflecting the incorrect status of geographical objects in the spelling of topony

Abstract
The article considers current problems of establishing the correct status of geographical features, which is necessary to choose well-grounded spellings of geographical terms that are included in toponyms of two types. The first type is comprised of "false" geographical terms; the second type contains terms denoting large extended geographical objects. The paper provides practical recommendations for fixing well-grounded spellings of toponyms.
