В статье рассмотрены актуальные проблемы установления корректного статуса географических объектов для выбора обоснованного написания географических терминов в составе топонимов двух типов. Первый тип включает в свой состав «ложные» географические термины, второй содержит термины, обозначающие крупные протяженные географические объекты. Даны практические рекомендации, направленные на закрепление обоснованного стабильного написания топонимов.

The article considers current problems of establishing the correct status of geographical features, which is necessary to choose well-grounded spellings of geographical terms that are included in toponyms of two types. The first type is comprised of "false" geographical terms; the second type contains terms denoting large extended geographical objects. The paper provides practical recommendations for fixing well-grounded spellings of toponyms.
