Критически рассмотрены существующие бытовые и научные трактовки значения пословицы. На основании историко-лексикологического анализа употребления слова горшок в памятниках русской письменности, народных говорах и изучения лексикографических источников выявлены причины его включения в состав пословицы. С учетом синтаксической структуры пословицы и функции союза хоть предпринята попытка адекватного толкования ее значения и мотива номинации.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The paper addresses the issue of establishing the naming motive reflected in the Russian saying which is well-known in colloquial language, national fiction, and journalism. The existing common and scientific interpretations of the saying are critically examined. The historical and lexicological analysis of the use of the word gorshok (engl. pot) in Russian written manuscripts, folk subdialects, and lexicographic sources enables the author to reveal the reasons why the lexeme was included in the saying. Taking into account the syntactic structure of the saying and the function of the conjunction hot’ (engl. though), an attempt is made to adequately interpret the meaning and motive for this nominating.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>мотив номинации</kwd><kwd>пословица</kwd><kwd>этимологизация</kwd><kwd>фразеологизмы</kwd><kwd>сложноподчиненное предложение</kwd><kwd>уступительные отношения</kwd><kwd>союз хоть</kwd><kwd>предложения фразеологизированной структуры</kwd><kwd>древнерусский язык</kwd><kwd>речевое поведение</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>naming motive</kwd><kwd>saying</kwd><kwd>etymologisation</kwd><kwd>phraseological units</kwd><kwd>complex sentence</kwd><kwd>concessive relations</kwd><kwd>conjunction hot’ (though)</kwd><kwd>phraseologised structure sentences</kwd><kwd>Old Russian</kwd><kwd>speech behaviour</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Веселовский С.
