В статье рассмотрена история формирования и функционирования различных по происхождению географических названий, известных в составе современной русской топонимии в нескольких формах. Охарактеризованы причины появления в языке топонимов-дублетов. Предложена их классификация, проанализированы способы лексикографической интерпретации в энциклопедической и топонимической литературе, где используются разные способы разграничения основной и дополнительной формы топонимов-дублетов.

The article describes the history and function of etymologically different geographic names known in modern Russian toponymy in several forms. Reasons for the appearance of doublet toponyms are revealed. The author offers their classification and analyzes methods of their lexicographic interpretation in encyclopedic and toponymic literature where different means of differentiation of basic and additional forms of doublet toponyms are used.
